How It All Started
Rinya represents a decade of refining what wildfire protection means. Alex and Nima met at
the University of Victoria, where a shared passion for cutting-edge technology brought
them together. Having both grown up in British Columbia, they witnessed firsthand the
escalating threat of wildfire seasons. First in 2004 and then in 2017, 2018, 2021 and
finally 2023. Their first hand experience of the toll that wildfires take on communities,
peace of mind, and the environment made them realized the growing need for a comprehensive
wildfire security system. Combining their expertise in software engineering, wildfire
fighting, and sprinkler fitting, Alex and Nima set out to build a modern data driven
solution to wildfires. With that Rinya was born.

Few people understand the threat of wildfires like Alex. For nearly a decade,
he served on the frontline as a crew leader for a wildfire fighting team tackling
British Columbia and Alberta's most devastating wildland fires. He compliments this practical
experience with his technical knowledge as a software developer building critical national security infrastructure.
Now, he is bringing his expertise to make automated wildfire protection systems, that are smarter, faster than ever.
Nima
Co-Founder
Drives the system architecture, software, and product discipline behind Rinya.
He brings a wealth of global expertise to the team, having engineered software across Canada and USA. Today, he channels that experience into shipping dependable
wildfire security that is simple to use in the real world.
